A discrepancy is easier to discuss when it has a location. “The university has my information wrong” may be understandable, but it does not yet identify the record, the responsible office or the correction sought.
Separate three kinds of question
- Display: a value appears differently in one system. Start with that system’s documented behavior and owner.
- Accuracy: a maintained record contains information you believe is inaccurate or misleading. Identify the entry and the basis for that belief.
- Decision: you disagree with a result. Ask which review process applies rather than assuming that a personal-information edit changes the decision.
This is a planning distinction. The relevant university office must determine the procedure for the individual case.
The published inspection and amendment routes
The Registrar privacy page describes an inspection/review right, arrangements no later than 45 days after a request, and a signed written amendment request to the Vice President for Student Affairs. It distinguishes records held by the Registrar from records elsewhere. Read the current page for scope, limitations, copying arrangements and the process following a denied amendment.
For straightforward legal-name or other listed personal-information changes, consult the Change of Personal Information process first. A request for inspection and a documented personal-information update are not the same task.
A private inquiry outline
- I am asking about this specific record or output
- I observed this particular discrepancy
- I want to know whether the issue is a display, current value, historical record or decision
- Please identify the responsible office and the required correction or review route
- Please tell me which evidence is needed and how to submit it appropriately
The outline is not a submission form and should not be filled out on this site. Use the official Registrar help page to begin routing. No record is reviewed, amended or transmitted by Personal Record Review.
